As far as I understand, the Lilliebridge 'method' is basically linear periodization, and as such, does not really rule out using RTS-style methodologies. I'd imagine RPE's could be used with pretty much any template. I have to comment on the CUBE: even though I really like Brandon Lilly, I couldn't get much out of that particular setup. It felt like the speed work really screwed everything up; the days where you actually worked felt too far apart etc.

It felt like the speed work really screwed everything up; the days where you actually worked felt too far apart etc. I suppose it might work better for an ultra high-level lifter?Not to derail the thread too far, but I think that the explosive day is probably better to have in there for a higher level guy or gal who needs the extra week of recovery, a simple plan of reps / heavy is what the lillibridge method is actually, and I think it can work well. I know the frequency on the lilliebridge method is quite low which would be a turn off for a lot of guys around here.

From what I understand you just go heavy on a squat one week, with light deadlifts, then light squats and a heavy deadlift the next. Same with bench, alternating light and heavy. I think they do a close grip bench or something similar on their lighter bench weeks. You could certainly apply to just about any method. That said, programs aren't magic. They work for a reason.

We're going over all this in with about 10+ hours of detail. But if you want to check out the basic version, I'd look at this video: So if a guy goes from [whatever] to 'the lillibridge method' or 'the cube' or whatever. THE PROGRAM DOESN'T MATTER. What matters is this: 1) Does the program provide specificity? 2) Does it provide overload?
3) Does it provide fatigue management? If it does those three things, you'll see wild progress. If it misses one ( especially either of the first two), then you won't. The rest of the fancy rhetoric matters only a small amount.
